“Meri jaan nikal jandi hai”, what more can describe those suffocation in the brutal wraps of depression. Regret, guilt, anger, irritation everything builds the intolerable amount of pain on your shoulders that not only pushes you to self-harm but also take your own life. Hopelessness and Desperation, eats a living, breathing person alive.
With an increase in depression and suicidal rate of about 21.8 %, Pakistani youth is drowning in the endless pit of hopelessness. Here are a few ways to gradually help you build yourself up, recognize who you are and stand taller and stronger!
1- Find someone to talk to and let all the pain out, trust me you will feel very relieved!
2- Crying is a natural way to empty the frustration inside you, so aik hi dafa let it all out!
3- Set your routine, indulge yourself in activities like sports or some online activities!
4- Eat healthy and eat well!
5- Fix your sleeping routine and instead of waking up nights just force yourself to sleep!
6- Boycott all the depressing song or media sources and try not to relate your life to that, because there is so much in your life that you still need to discover!
7- You feel hopeless and that you are worth nothing, but this isn’t the end because you are EVERYTHING!
8-Do something new. Pick up a book, go to Badshahi Masjid, tag your friends in memes just do something!
9-Meditation! Learn to calm your thoughts and relax your mind. This is the perfect time to uplift your spiritual self, pray to Allah, fulfill your religious duties because that is where you find peace!
10- Care for a pet. While nothing can replace the human connection, pets can bring joy and companionship into your life and help you feel less isolated. Trust me they will never hurt your feelings!
11- If you did nothing wrong which lead to your depressing state, then take yourself out of the guilt and stay patient because time fixes everything. Trust me it does!
12- STOP OVERTHINKING!
13-Staying connected to other people and taking part in social activities will make a world of difference in your mood and outlook.
14- Spend more time with your family, because they are the ones who matter the most. Don’t give up on yourself, don’t give up on them.
15- Last but not the least, have faith in yourself and in Allah. There always is a light at the end of the tunnel!
If you are stuck and lost in darkness then get hold of yourself, take a long deep breath, tell yourself you matter and just live!
Just remember there is always sunrise after darkness….. your sun will rise!
