Aurat March has been facing a lot of music for its mode of execution and controversial slogans. Since women’s day is just round the corner, people have geared up to make it a grist for the gossip mill once again. Last night during a show on Neo News, the Meray Paas Tum Ho writer got into an ugly spat with another female panelist. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was carrying on with his bit of conversation before he was interrupted by Marvi Sarmad, a former journalist, triggering the extremely short-fused writer with a slogan of the upcoming Aurat march he had previously taken issue with: mera jisam meri marzi. This harmless little phrase got Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar all riled up as he got into a profanity-laced spat with Marvi, using choice expletives like ‘b****’ and ‘ulloo ** *****’ for the woman.
The video has been making rounds on the internet ever since the show went on air.
Celebrities like Mahira Khan and Haroon Shahid expressed their disgust over this vile conversation by the veteran writer. Just to remind, Mahira has previously worked with Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar in his biographical drama “Sadqay Tumharay”.
I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking! #khalilurrehmanqamar

Just saw the obnoxious incident between Khalil Saab and Marvi Sirmad. I see people writing "You can't talk to a lady like that" and that's where the problem lies. It's not a matter of gender. You can't talk to ANYONE like that! Not even an animal. Khalil Saab is a disgrace 🤦🏻♂️🤮

The general public is highly polarized on the subject. One wing was utterly disgusted over this impiety.

All for conversation/engagement/ differing POVs but this man is repugnant with ugly views and full of hatred.
About time we call out all TV channels and artists who continue to work with Khalil ur Rahman and embolden him to directly threat women on TV. pic.twitter.com/bZJXeWfBUN

I wonder how people are still defending this Khalilulrehman qamar? He literally doesn't even know how to talk to women, writes the shittiest plots ever and people are supporting his views? How low one has to go to disrespect a woman? #khalilurrehmanqamar https://t.co/CIlU2BfRDp

The other faction of the Twitter community rejoiced over this encounter and reminded Marvi Sarmad of her own previous indecent conduct.
Yahan u can't see he abused a man ?
if #khalilurrehmanqamar did so with a logical and valid point and after all the instigation from marvi
U liberals and anti menists are targeting him
hypocricy.isn't it?#khalilurrehmanqamar pic.twitter.com/RYDWJ32isC

Why are you so offended on getting abused by #khalilurrehmanqamar ??
It’s the same language in which you like to communicate most.

When you come with this type of slogans and provoked someone during his turn to speak. He was giving his answer but Marvi Sarmad provoked him again and again. When you don't know ethics then you get treated. This aurat March should be stopped #khalilurrehmanqamar

That lady provoked #khalilurrehmanqamar so much that he lost his temper.
She is an attention seeker who always create a scene to get the sympathy and attention of the public by doing these kind of stunts on national TV.
Basically she is paid to instigate hatred against Pakistan. https://t.co/E8CLEA51tl

This man has destroyed the gutter feminists and desi liberals by a single sentence:
"Be-Haya Aurat kay jism per koi thokta bhi nhi"👌
Haya is the real beauty of women❤️
Hats off to you❤️#khalilurrehmanqamar pic.twitter.com/crTviQrlgB

#KhalilurRehmanQamar has his own version of thought process backed by arguments and I believe in respecting views of everyone whether they're of Qamar or Marvi. However, this #AuratMarch2020 or #MeraJismMeriMarzi is so meaningless to be discussed.

Regardless of the inquest about the right and wrong in this whole wrangling, one thing is certain, language of this sort should never be used against anyone. Acknowledging and paying heed to other people’s opinions is critical for a constructive conversation. Agree to disagree with respect is what our society is lacking and if people of such stature can’t fathom it, one can not be much hopeful for any rectification in future.
