This Indian Filmmaker Thinks Women Should Cooperate In Rape To Avoid Murder & SERIOUSLY?!

India is once again ablaze with the outrage of people after rape and murder of the 26-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad. Protests are being held all around the country and swift punishment for the culprits is being widely urged.

However, amidst all the fury, Daniel Shravan, a small-time filmmaker, made a rather crude and insensitive comment on the entire ordeal. According to him girls must cooperate with their rapists and do not deny their desires, in order to avoid murder.

In a now-deleted post, the filmmaker said “Government should encourage legalize Rape without Violence Scheme (No Killing after Rape). Girls above 18 should be educated on rapes (i.e. girls should not deny the sexual desires of men). Only then these type of things will not happen. It is foolishness that killing Veerappan will control smuggling, killing Laden will control terrorism. In the same way, the “Nirbhaya Act” can’t control “Rapes with Violence”. Especially Indian girls should be aware of sex education (carrying condoms and dental dams after age of 18). Simple Logic….when the sexual desire is fulfilled men wouldn’t kill women. The government should pass a scheme something like this to control deaths after rape. Society, women organizations and government are frightening rapists with Nirbhaya Act, pepper spray, etc. Rapists are not finding a way to get their bodily sexual desires and getting these killing thoughts. An evil thought provokes crime (killing). Better women should accept men’s sex.”

Further, he added that rape is not a serious thing, but murder is inexcusable’ adding that ‘the government should legalize rape without violence for the safety of women.’

Of course the absurdity of such an opinion didn’t go well the netizens. People have poured out their utmost condemnation on Twitter since then.

Rape statistics in India have been soaring in the recent years. However, the worst part in South-Asian patriarchal prepotency is the mindset of victim shaming. The society is capable of uncovering all the faults; but at the wrong side of the line. It is disheartening to see such opinions floating in the air when women all over the world are striving hard for their safety and survival.
