0

A bare necessity in every household, Netflix has become as essential as peace and a stable WiFi connection everywhere. The brand itself is usually pretty secretive about what’s actually being watched the most (don’t trust the Trending Now tab), but they do release a list of its most-watched series by the end of every year. And we’re here to fill you in on the details.

Read on to find out if your favourites made it through, or if these titles are worthy of being the list or not.

10. Orange Is the New Black

This season of the rowdy, captivating drama centred in a women’s prison was highly anticipated, and no wonder it makes it to the Top 10. This season’s hilarious catastrophes and sentimental moments make it one of the best seasons of the show.

9. Insatiable

Despite the colossal backlash faced by the show’s creators and the lead actress, Debbie Ryan, for fat-shaming, insensitive humour, and showing toxic tropes, the show still managed to bag a spot on the most-binged list. This could be because viewers couldn’t stop themselves from tuning in and seeing for themselves how truly messed up the show is.

8. Anne with an E

Truly deserving a spot in this list, this emotional narrative of Anne of Green Gables has been winning hearts all over, especially because of Amybeth McNulty’s enthralling performance. Watch it, and you’re bound to fall in love with all the wholesome characters.

7. The Haunting of Hill House

The newest horror drama on the block was the highlight of this year’s Halloween, and the reason behind most nightmares because of the cast’s convincing performance and the creepiest ghosts ever.

6. Fastest Car

The reality series spot is bagged by this show which has become a cult favourite among automobile enthusiasts.

5. Bodyguard

This British political thriller has garnered several Golden Globe nominations, prominently because of Richard Madden’s thrilling action sequences. Apart from totally falling flat for Sergeant David Budd, this show is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat.

4. Last Chance U: Indy

This show’s creators are known for hunting down obscure college football teams, contouring players at places like Independence Community College and East Mississippi Community college, and is an intense yet enjoyable watch for sports fans.

3. 13 Reasons Why

This one is a no-brainer. Almost as controversial as Insatiable for mixed reasons, this show has become a guilty pleasure among teen audiences for exploring themes like teen suicide, bullying, and harassment in a questionable form.

2. Making a Murderer: Part 2

Netflix has an excellent collection of thrilling docuseries, and this one is no different. This year, it released its second instalment and gave us an inside look on convicted murderer Steven Avery’s case.

1. On My Block

You are probably wondering why you’ve never heard of this show before. A little lowkey on the popularity front, this diverse coming-of-age dramedy appealed to audiences everywhere and ended the season with a bone-chilling cliffhanger. You have to give it a watch to understand why it landed on the number one spot.
